This past weekend we ventured out on our 2nd camping trip. We knew there was supposed to be rain but we went forth with our plans. It did rain Friday in the middle of the night and really poured early Saturday morning. The boys slept through all of it and we stayed dry in the tent. It was kind of fun hearing the rain on the tent. Anthony woke up about 630pm, it was still pouring and Albi was sleeping peacefully so he climbed onto our air mattress and we read lots of books. After Albi got up, we decided it was best to go OUT for breakfast vs. attempting to cook on an open fire. Good luck with that! It was fun, the 4 of us...drowned rats went to a local cafe and made lots of friends who all thought we were ROCK STARS...camping in a tent and all. It really cleared up about 10am or so and we continued on our fun trip. We swam in the lake, fed the animals at the petting zoo, the boys rode their bikes, we played baseball and many other fun, dirty things.
Then came Saturday night and that was another story. We heard speculation of tornado warnings but they were lifted so we decided to stay put. About 9pm, after Albi just fell asleep...the sirens went off. Terry runs into the tent and says we have to go! He scooped up Anthony, I scooped up Albi and we raced home for the night. After a good night's sleep, we left in the morning to go back and finish out our camping trip. We had a really great time. Daddy is a wonderful, open fire chef, I usually prep the food and he cooks it. The boys are great sports and eat whatever we make. This time we had tacos, breakfast burritos, hobo pies, chicken sandwiches, brats and smores a few times. I can't wait for our next excursion!
