A Scholar in the House

Terry & I could hardly believe our ears the other night. Anthony was reading a book! Yes, he was reading all by himself, page after page. I asked Terry if he's read that to him and he said "yes, but only once". Anthony was looking at the words and sounding them out. Of course it was a preschool level book but what a milestone it was. We are so proud of him and I think he was beaming too. It was the "HotDog" book but that's all I remember. Lately he has been sounding out lots of words. He'll ask us what something says and we tell him to sound it out. He really does a great job except for those odd, English grammar rules. I just explain that sometimes there are silent letters or that 2 specific letters together make a certain sound. I know he'll remember so I try to explain as much as possible.
